Get alerts for a council, town or postcode

Be told about new applications in a council, town or postcode area.

An alert for a place tells you about new applications there, so you do not have to keep checking. It solves the problem of finding out about a neighbour's plans only after the comment period has closed.

How to set one up

  1. Open a council or town page, or search for a postcode.
  2. Select Get alerts for followed by the place name. If you are not signed in, see Get alerts without a password.
  3. Open My Searches to see all your alerts, switch emails on or off for each one, or remove it.

You know it worked when the button changes to Alerts on for the place, and the alert appears in My Searches. Select the button again to turn the alert off.

How many can I have?

Alerts for a postcode area, a town or a council are free and unlimited on every plan (up to 50 per account, to stop abuse). Alerts with saved filters are part of Research, with up to 10. Nationwide keyword alerts are part of the Leads plan, with up to 100 keyword and filtered alerts together.

These alerts tell you about new applications only. To hear about changes to one particular application, track it.

Common questions

I set up an alert but no emails arrive. See Alerts not arriving.

Can I search a wider area? Free covers up to 1km around a postcode. Research, Leads and Conditions go up to 10km.
