Get alerts without a password

Start free email alerts for a council or postcode with just your email address.

For anyone who wants to hear about new planning applications without setting up an account first. All you need is your email address.

How to start

  1. Open your council's or town's page, or search a postcode, and select Get alerts for followed by the place name.
  2. Enter your email address and select Email me alerts.
  3. Open the email we send you. It shows the latest applications in that area, so you can see what to expect.
  4. Select Confirm my alerts in the email, then Confirm my alerts again on the page that opens.

You know it worked when you see You're all set, with the number of applications in the last 30 days and the latest few listed. Your alerts are not active until you confirm.

Your free account

Confirming creates a free account for your email address, without a password, signs you in on that device and takes you to your alerts. To sign in on another device, use a sign-in link. You can set a password at any time from your Profile; after that you sign in with the password instead.

If you already have an account with that email address, we add the alert to it. If that account has a password (or uses Google), we don't sign you in from the email, for your security: sign in as usual to manage it.

Common questions

The email hasn't arrived. On the page that says Not active yet, check the address shown, look in spam or promotions, then select Resend email (you can resend once a minute). If the address is wrong, select Wrong email? Change address.

The link says it has expired. Confirmation links last 24 hours and work once. Ask for your alerts again from the council or postcode page.

How many alerts can I have? Alerts for a postcode area, a town or a council are free and unlimited on every plan. (To stop abuse, one account can hold up to 50.) Alerts arrive as one email a day, or once a week if you choose Weekly in your Profile.
