Large Bay Tree has grown between both properties now touching both and is far too large for where it is situated. 11m tall 0.92cm diameter at base to be dismantled down to ground level due to encroachment on both properties
T1 Ash: Northwestern aspect of canopy to be reduced laterally (shortening by up to 1.5m - maximum cut diameter 75mm) to reduce end weight to reduce the risk of limbs snapping over garden area. Pre pruning dimensions: H: 16m W: 10m Post pruning dimensions: H: 16m W: 8.5m
The tree is situated in our front garden on the border with the house next door. The crown overhanging next door has been cut back to approximately four to five feet. The crown on our side of the garden has not been pruned (by the previous owners of our property); and as such is now twelve to fifteen wide. Our main area of concern is the fact that the branches are beginning to grow through the telephone wires that serve the house next door, and will begin to cause damage in the near future. If this work is done the tree will also begin to look more symmetrical and in fitting with the area.
Installation of plant equipment, shopfront alterations and associated works.
T003 - Ash - Sectional Dismantle
T002 - Holm oak - Prune the SW canopy to clear the gable end and steps to Flat 1 - 5m clearance from edge of canopy to the gable end.
Justification Statement This application seeks consent to undertake minor crown lifting and light-touch pruning works to several trees located within a managed residential scheme for elderly occupants. The proposed works are intended to increase natural light levels to nearby properties, communal footpaths, and parking areas, thereby improving visibility, safety, and general amenity for residents. The works are limited, proportionate, and designed to avoid any long-term impact on tree health or amenity value. Tree Work: Recommendations, retaining the trees? natural form and avoiding the creation of large pruning wounds. T1 ? Sycamore - Crown lift on the footpath side by removing secondary and sub-lateral branches only to achieve approximately 3.0 m vertical clearance between ground level and the lowest foliage tips Justification: To increase daylight to adjacent properties. To improve light and visibility along the footpath used by elderly residents. To provide adequate clearance for safe pedestrian access. Works are minimal and do not involve the removal of primary branches. G4 ? Group of 3x Copper Norway Maple Crown lift by removing secondary and sub-lateral branch growth only to achieve approximately 3.0 m vertical clearance over the footpath and car parking areas. Justification: To allow more natural light into the properties and communal areas. To increase safety by improving visibility for pedestrians and vehicle manoeuvring. To raise the crown uniformly without altering the trees? natural shape. Individual pruning wounds will not exceed 50 mm. T2 ? Western Red Cedar Crown lift by removing secondary and sub-lateral branches only to achieve approximately 4.0 m vertical clearance above the footpath. Justification: To improve light levels and reduce shading to nearby dwellings. To ensure safe clearance for pedestrians, mobility scooters, and maintenance access. Pruning wounds will not exceed 40 mm, maintaining natural form. T3 ? Beech Crown lift by removi
5 Day Notice - Silver Birch - Removal of dangerous branch overhanging the entrance to neighbour's property and public road. See Photos.
Illuminated and non-illuminated replacement signage & external lighting.
T1 - Eucalypt (Fell) Reason for Removal: The tree is growing within a confined raised bed, providing insufficient space for future root plate expansion. This constraint has already resulted in structural interaction with the retaining wall, indicating ongoing and likely progressive damage. A fruitbody of Spectacular Rustgill (Gymnopilus junonius) was noted at the base, suggesting possible decay activity within the root zone. Given the tree's position adjacent to the driveway and pedestrian access, the combination of restricted rooting environment, structural pressure on built features, and potential root decay presents an unacceptable risk to vehicles and pedestrians. Removal is therefore recommended.
Tree Reference: T1 (Horse Chestnut) Proposed Works: Primary Proposal (Option 1): Crown reduction of 3m from the height and radial spread to suitable pruning points. The finished dimensions will be approximately 9m in height and 6m in radial spread. Alternative Proposal (Option 2 ): Pollard to a height of approximately 6m to establish a cyclical maintenance framework. All works to be carried out in accordance with BS 3998:2010 (Recommendations for Tree Work) The proposed works to T1 (Horse Chestnut) are necessary to mitigate health and safety risks at the entrance to a residential car parking area. The tree currently overhangs the primary vehicle and pedestrian access point, as well as several designated parking bays Safety and Access: The crown reduction or pollard is required to reduce the risk of limb failure and falling debris (conkers and deadwood) onto residents and vehicles in this high-traffic zone. Long-term Management: Option 1(Crown Reduction) aims to balance the tree's health and visual amenity with the practical constraints of its location. Option 2 (Pollarding to 6m) is proposed to initiate a sustainable cyclical maintenance plan. This would allow the tree to be retained in its urban environment at a size compatible with its proximity to residential infrastructure.
Demolition of two buildings and erection of 5-bay self service car wash structure and 8-bay EV car charging area.
Prunus T1 - fell because the tree's canopy fails to contribute to the visual amenities that enhance the character and setting of the Conservation Area. A healthy and well-structured canopy is essential for maintaining the aesthetic and ecological value of such areas, providing shade, habitat for wildlife, and visual cohesion with the surrounding landscape. The canopy has been progressively over-reduced, leading to poor form and limited regrowth potential. The rooting area is confined by surrounding hard surfaces/structures, reducing stability and vigour.

This is an Ash tree in rear garden of 81 Freshwater Drive (TPO ref: 1998.036) The proposed work is to fell the tree due to significant Ash Dieback as marked in photograph. Notible targets are a public pathway and park to the rear. The property owners also have small children who play in the garden.
Three large horse chestnut trees which have massively overgrown and effectively taken up the complete width of the garden, blocking out light and a potential hazard due to its large size and potential droppages. The three trees darken the light to both the kitchen and lounge and overhang a large part of the garage. Each tree has a crown diameter of approximately 32 feet covering the complete width of the garden and overlapping the next property at number 78. All trees are approximately 60 feet tall and they have not been touched for at least 10 years, if at all. All trees need crown reduction of 5 feet leaving 12 feet after pruning but some of the branches are 25 feet long and these will need a crown reduction of 8 feet leaving 17 feet after pruning. Photographs have been shaded showing the reduction. They also need crown thinning to 30%. Included third tree which belongs to 78 but overhangs the garage and garden of 80. This house was occupied by my mother who has sadly passed on. The house has been up for sale for over 12 months and has not attracted any buyers, the main reason being these large trees being too large and dominating the garden. There is also a large outstanding bill owed to Torbay Council from my mothers stay in a care home but this cannot be paid until the house is sold.
The applicant has received a letter from the authority with a requirement to clear obstruction from the highway, all planned cuts are to enable a clearance of 6m to allow for future growth. Side Communal Garden Area of Regents Court; x1 Hornbeam - Reduce in height only Reduce the height of the tree by approximately 1.0 metre leaving a final tree height of approximately 4.0 metres. No works to the radial canopy spread is required maintaining a final radial crown spread of approximately 4.0 metres at all compass points while retaining the main framework & shape of the crown & therefore a high proportion of the foliage bearing structure. All pruning cuts to be made at suitable growth points. Pruning wounds shall not exceed 30mm in diameter. Crown lift secondary & sub lateral branch growth on the southern aspect of the tree only, to provide a clearance of approximately 2.0 metres between ground level and foliage tips, to achieve the desired vertical clearance above the access steps leading to the garden area. Justification The reduction in tree height by 1.0 metre ensures the Hornbeam remains manageable and structurally stable. The work is designed to maintain the tree?s natural framework and foliage-bearing structure, which supports its overall vitality and aesthetic value. Limiting pruning cuts to growth points and ensuring wounds do not exceed 30mm in diameter will minimize stress on the tree and reduce the risk of disease or decay. The reduction in height and maintenance of a 4.0-metre radial canopy spread preserves the tree?s natural shape and symmetry. This ensures the Hornbeam remains an attractive and integral feature of the communal garden area. Crown lifting on the southern aspect provides a 2.0-metre clearance above the access steps, improving safe access for residents and visitors without impacting the overall canopy structure. Ensuring adequate vertical clearance addresses public safety concerns, particularly in a communal space. The selective and minimal nature of the proposed works aligns with the objectives of conservation area. The tree?s contribution to the local character and landscape will be maintained. The proposed works mainta...
