Proposal
The works we are applying for are: T1 - Lime Reduce upper regrowth above topping wounds by 3m and inspect for decay around regrowth point. All works to accord with BS3998 Tree Works. Reasons: 1. The tree has been topped in the past and regrowth is considered to be at an elevated risk of failure. 2. Sensitive crown reduction to establish canopy pruning points to allow the tree to be maintained at/ around its current size given the likely decay. T3 - Lime Remove and replace Reasons 1. The tree has a large and well established cavity at the stem base where soundings indicate extensive decay. The drawn form of the tree removes the ability to effectively crown reduce the tree. 2. Extensive Honey Fungus was noted close to the base of the tree and whilst it cannot be confirmed whether the tree is infected when considered in the context of the identified decay, we consider removal and replacement a sensible course of action. 3. The removal and replacement of this defect tree provides the opportunity to replace it, diversifying the age class of the site trees and providing more effective successional tree canopy cover. Replacement tree details: To be conditioned by Local Authority.
