About Nottingham City Council Planning Authority

Nottingham City Council serves as the local authority for Nottingham, located in the East Midlands. With roots tracing back to medieval times, the council transitioned to a unitary authority in 1998, combining the roles of both district and county councils. As of 2024, it is also a member of the East Midlands Combined County Authority, enhancing its regional collaboration and planning capabilities. The council is currently led by Neghat Khan (Labour), who has held the position since 20 May 2024. Sajeeda Rose serves as Chief Executive since 5 August 2024. The council comprises 55 councillors serving 4 years terms, with the most recent election held on 4 May 2023.
