About Kent County Council Planning Authority

Kent County Council (KCC) serves as the upper tier of local government for the non-metropolitan county of Kent, England, overseeing 12 district councils and approximately 300 town and parish councils. Located at County Hall in Maidstone, KCC is one of the largest local authorities in England by population, with 81 elected councillors. As of 2025, the council is under the control of Reform UK, having previously been governed by a Conservative majority since 1997. The council is currently led by Linden Kemkaran (Reform UK), who has held the position since 22 May 2025. Amanda Beer serves as Chief Executive since July 2023. The council comprises 81 councillors.
