About City of York Council Planning Authority

City of York Council serves as the local authority for the historic city of York, located in North Yorkshire, England. With a lineage that dates back to medieval times, the council has undergone several reforms and has operated as a unitary authority since 1996, combining the roles of both district and county council. As of 2024, it is also a member of the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, enhancing its capacity to manage planning applications and local governance effectively.
