API plans and records

What the free demo, API Starter and API Pro include, and how records are counted.

API plans are bought separately from the website plans. They are priced by records: each application, condition or portfolio match the API returns counts as one record.

Plans

  • Free demo: 100 records, once. Application data only. It does not renew.
  • API Starter: £49 a month + VAT for 2,500 records a month. Application data only.
  • API Pro: £149 a month + VAT for 10,000 records a month. Adds agent contact details, the applicant company and the conditions endpoints.
  • National / bulk: from £399 a month + VAT for higher volumes. Contact us to set it up.

The Leads website plan also includes 1,000 API records a month, with agent contact details and conditions. If you have more than one plan, the allowances add up.

How records are counted

  • Each item in a response counts once. Asking for the same application again in the same calendar month is free, so you can refresh a list without using more records.
  • Monthly allowances reset on the 1st of each month. Unused records do not roll over.
  • One request returns at most 100 records.
  • The list of councils and your usage summary are free.
  • The allowance is shared by all the keys on your account.

Every response shows your remaining records in its headers, and your subscription page shows how many you have used. When the allowance runs out, the API answers with an error that says so, and starts working again when it resets or when you upgrade. The details are in Records and allowances.

How to subscribe or cancel

  1. Open the API page, tick the box to accept the API & Data Licence, then choose API Starter or API Pro.
  2. Pay by secure card payment. VAT is added at checkout, and you can add your VAT number there.
  3. Your new allowance applies to your existing keys straight away.

To change plan or cancel, use Manage billing on your subscription page. Cancelling an API plan does not change your website plan. For a custom or national API plan, contact us.

Applicant names and home addresses are never included on any plan, to protect private individuals.

Every plan, including the free demo, is covered by the API & Data Licence: you can use the data in your own organisation and show individual records to your users, credited "Planning data from Planning Signal", but not resell or redistribute it in bulk. When a plan ends, delete the data you stored within 30 days.
