About Blackpool Council Planning Authority
Blackpool Council serves as the local authority for the Borough of Blackpool in Lancashire, England. Established as a unitary authority in 1998, it operates independently from Lancashire County Council, combining the roles of both district and county council. Since 2025, Blackpool Council has also been a member of the Lancashire Combined County Authority, playing a key role in regional governance and planning matters. The council is currently led by Lynn Williams (Labour), who has held the position since 20 July 2020. Neil Jack serves as Chief Executive since 21 July 2011. The council comprises 42 councillors serving 4 years terms, with the most recent election held on 4 May 2023.
