T1 – Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) Proposed Work: Fell to ground level. Justification: The tree is a mature specimen exhibiting significant basal decay, with confirmed presence of Dryad’s Saddle (Cerioporus squamosus), indicating compromised structural integrity. The tree also displays an uncorrected lean and a declining crown condition. Given its location adjacent to the public highway, nearby properties, and a school access route, the tree presents an elevated risk to persons and property. Removal is therefore recommended on the grounds of safety. Replant with Field Maple (Acer Campestre) T2 – Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) Proposed Work: Crown reduction of up to 2.5 metres (to suitable growth points), focusing on branch tips encroaching towards adjacent structures. Justification: To provide appropriate clearance from neighbouring buildings and prevent further encroachment, while retaining a balanced crown form in accordance with BS3998 guidance. T3 – Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) Proposed Work: Crown reduction of up to 2.5 metres (to suitable growth points). Justification: To reduce encroachment towards neighbouring buildings and maintain safe and sustainable canopy spread, ensuring pruning cuts are made in line with BS3998 recommendations. T4 – Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) Proposed Work: Crown reduction of up to 2.5 metres (to suitable growth points). Justification: To mitigate branch encroachment onto adjacent structures and maintain appropriate clearance, while preserving the tree’s overall health and form. T5 – Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) Proposed Work: Crown reduction of up to 2.5 metres (to suitable growth points). Justification: To address encroachment towards neighbouring buildings and ensure the continued safe management of the tree stock in accordance with BS3998 principles. Pruning cuts to comply with BS3998:2010, avoiding excessive end-weight reduction and ensuring natural target pruning points are used. Tree works aim to retain trees where feasible while managing risk and maintaining reasonable clearance from built structures.
