Proposal
Robinia Tree: We are seeking consent for the full removal of this tree. Upon discovery of a fungus on the trunk base we first consulted a tree surgeon and subsequently Sarah Venners of Venner Arboiculture. Sarah Venners identified the fungus as Ganoderma Resinaceum. She commented: "as the decay is both advanced and extensive, uprooting or stem breakage could occur and so there is a potentially high level of risk associated with retention. Her recommendation is "complete removal of the tree would be the safest thing to do given the high level of risk associated with retention." We note we have a baby and toddler while the proximity of the house to the tree means concern for safety is paramount. We would also note that we purchased the property in February 2021 and so the fungus only became known to us recently despite it being well established. Our intention is to plant another tree in keeping with the landscape.
