Proposal

2x Horse Chestnuts at the front of the property. Both trees have been very heavily pruned historically with the regeneration growth emanating from approximately 2-2.5m above ground level with cavities and callousing at these points, consistent with pollards. There is ivy developing on the main stems of both trees. HC1 - The smaller of the two trees is growing immediately adjacent to the retaining wall which has been displaced by some 10 degrees onto public footpath. The tree has historic abiotic damage and some bark delamination at approximately 2.5m above ground level, consistent with some form of decay. The tree bifurcates at approximately 3m above ground level with one of the co-dominant stems growing over the road. The carriageway clearance is below statutory requirements and leans towards the adjacent property. We believe that the tree should be removed to mitigate the risk of vehicle strike or wall failure onto the public footpath. Due to the position of this tree relative to the larger tree (HC2), the diminution of street scene character with the removal of this tree would, we believe, be negligible. HC2 - The main tree bifurcates at ground level with each stem having approximately 8x co-dominant leaders, some vertical, some broadly spreading. With the removal of the smaller tree, we want to raise the canopy to statutory clearances over the road, remove the ivy, and reduce the entire canopy d by 1-1.5m, equating to a 30% foliar reduction. This will bring the tree back into balance and mitigate against wind loading and potential limb failure and bringing the tree into scale with its surroundings. Intended works HC1 - Immediately adjacent to the road, to remove to ground level. To grind the resultant stump to below ground level. Please note, it is probable that the root systems on both of these trees have conjoined as they are in close proximity. Therefore we do not intend to treat the stump on HC1as that would likely negatively impact the root systems on the main tree (HC2). HC2 - To raise canopy to statutory clearances over the road, ivy is removed, and the entire canopy is reduced by 1-1.5m, equating to a 30% foliar reduction. The Yew is also at the front of the property, on the oposite side of the plot. We want to lift the crown to 2m above ground level.
