1 The Cross West Meon GU32 1LG
Proposal
Holm Oak (T1) - Reduce overall canopy by 5m, reducing to natural canopy line, leaving tree at approx 6m tall. This will reduce the end weight and potential for failure. The tree has been previously coppiced at ground level, resulting in multiple stem regrowth, each one approx. up to 300mm diameter. These stems grow at an angle from each other and are heavily weighted. Coppiced trees can become unstable as they grow and get larger as the unions are not formed correctly in reaction growth. This tree has been left unmanaged and is outgrowing its location. To the west is a thatched cottage which is less than 10m away from the tree and within falling distance of the tree if the West stems were to fail.
