Why it was refused

  1. There is insufficient information to demonstrate that adequate pedestrian visibility splays can be achieved and maintained for the proposed vehicle crossover. In the absence of this information, it has not been demonstrated that the proposal would not give rise to unacceptable highway safety impacts. The proposal therefore conflicts with Policies Q14 and Q15 of the Lambeth Local Plan 2020-2035 (2021).
  2. The creation of the proposed vehicular crossover would result in the permanent loss of an on-street parking space available to permit holders and pay-and-display users within the Streatham Wells Controlled Parking Zone, the need for which has not been justified by the applicant. As such the proposal would increase parking pressure in the area and conflict with Policy T6 of the Lambeth Local Plan 2020-2035 (2021) and the Lambeth London planning@lambeth.gov.uk SW2 9QQ Kerbside Strategy (2023).
