Planning Decision

Decision
Refused

Why it was refused

  1. The proposed fascia sign due to its depth and design along with the position of the proposed projecting sign which would be fixed to the existing decorative console are not considered appropriate for this location within a Conservation Area. The cumulative impact of these proposals would be unsympathetic and harmful and would fail to conserve or enhance the Conservation Area. The proposal does not accord with Policies DM2 (Design Quality for New Development) and DM11 (Historic and Built Environment) of the Island Plan Core Strategy, the Newport and Ryde Commercial Frontages Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document, the National Planning Policy Framework, Section 72 of the Planning (Listed Buildings & Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and The Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 2007 (as amended).
