Planning Decision
Why it was refused
- The excessive height of the railing and piers proposed to the front and side boundaries would enclose an otherwise open corner, would be overbearing and would not be in keeping with the surrounding streetscene, contrary to the DMP1 of Brent’s Local Plan (2019-2041) and the Residential Extensions and Alterations SPD 2025.
- The widening of the driveway to the property will provide additional off-street parking in excess of maximum standards, result in a shortage of soft landscaping within the site, leading to a form of development that is detrimental to sustainable transport, air pollution, climate change and surface water drainage, and is harmful to the character and appearance of the area. This is contrary to Policies DMP1, BSUI14 and BT2 of Brent’s Local Plan (2019–2041).
From the council's decision notice.
