Pruning: T51, T67, T88 and T133 – crown lift to 5m by removing/reducing lower branches only. T145 – remove the eastern stem only back to its point of origin due to significant basal decay; retain remainder of tree. Trees 1 and 2 (adjacent 150) prune back from their dwelling/garage by circa 3m and remove deadwood. The branches of both trees are extending across the curtilage of 150 Fleetwood Close. Some are in close proximity to the dwelling. Early pruning work, as requested, will enable the tree crown to be managed without recourse to substantial pruning cuts. Early intervention is therefore considered to be best practice in accordance with BS3998:2010: Tree Works - Recommendations. Tree 3 reduce height to circa 6m above ground level. The tree is in decline and presents no regenerative growth from lower on the branches or stem structure. If regenerative growth had been present it would have been feasible to specify pruning works to suitable growth points. Given the state of decline and absence of suitable pruning points it is considered prudent to remove the major branches but retain the lower stem for its ecological value. Works can be undertaken in accordance with BS3998:2010: Tree Works - Recommendations.

T1 - Atlas Cedar - Cedrus atlantica. Request: - Carry out a crown reduction of upto 2.5 meters on the side of number 6 and number 7 (between the two properties) the back section of the tree will not need to be reduced as the tree has significantly less growth to the rear. The crown would only be lifted by 1 meter due to secondary branch pruning (no structural main limbs would be touched). Reduce the overextended limb at the rear of the tree that is becoming overextended by 3 meters in length in order to bring it back inline with the rest of the crown shape. Reason: - This work is being requested so that the overall shape of the tree becomes more balanced and so that the limbs do not encroach too close to the properties. The tree appears to be in a good healthy condition so I think it would handle this spec of work being carried out on it.

T1: Beech (rear garden, left tree) - Reduce overall canopy by 2m to appropriate growth points, following BS3998 standards. The aim of the reduction is to minimise the chance of failure and to keep the tree maintained at a reasonable size before a more drastic reduction may be needed in the future. There is a poor V-shaped union between two co-dominant stems, which the reduction will reduce tip weight and minimise sail. The reduction will also aim to maintain a natural looking tree, pruning to appropriate growth points. T2: Lime (rear garden, right tree) - Reduce height of canopy by 3m and laterals reduce by 2m to appropriate growth points, following BS3998 standards. Epicormic growth to be removed from the main stem. The aim of the reduction is to keep the tree managed and to reduce the risk of failure. The tree has been lifted to 60% of its height, canopy starting at 11m. The reduction will lessen the sail, whilst keeping the tree maintained at reasonable points before a more drastic reduction is required in the future. The reduction will also aim to create a more visually appealing shape, whilst maintaining a natural looking tree. All major deadwood of 25mm in diameter or larger to be removed from both trees.
