T1 sycamore Reduce overall height by 4 to5m to leave tree at 11 to12m in height. Reason to reduce leverage on rooting system, evidence of progressive Kretzschmaria deusta colonisation and unpredictable rate of decay. Evidence suggests it is progressing reasonably quickly. Complicated by, and probably accelerated by, likely presence of Honey Fungus. TBC Reduce canopy to west side by up to 1to1.5m to good previous pruning points. Do not reduce eastern canopy. Reduce lever arm to south more significantly by up to 7m to leave section at c. 9m high. Reason: to unload compromised union and area of evident dysfunction. This will result in a large ???topping??? cut but the option is to remove this limb in entirety, and I assess this as an excessive response (and will result in a large loss of canopy mass) Deadwood throughout (exempt) - for advice only.
