Planning Decision
Why it was refused
- The proposed hardstanding area, dropped kerb and crossover, by reason of its siting adjacent to a tree within the highway verge would cause unacceptable harm to the tree, its root protection area and available rooting space. The proposal would therefore result in adverse arboricultural and visual impacts, failing to preserve the character and appearance of the site or surrounding street scene. The proposal is therefore contrary to Saved Policies GD1 EN1, EN12 and EN27 of the Wealden Local Plan 1998, Spatial Planning Objective SPO13 and Policies WCS12 and WCS14 of the Wealden District Core Strategy Local Plan 2013, Policies S3, S4, DP1, DP2, DP3, TR6 and N3, Policies HaHD 1 and HaGI 6 of the Hailsham Neighbourhood Plan 2021 and the guidance contained within Chapters 3, 5 and 10 of the Wealden Design Guide 2008 (‘the Design Guide’)
