I would like to build a garden office directly behind the existing garage. The hope is to have a single room, with some storage in the roof space above. It will be built on an insulated concrete base, suitably excavated for wall foundations, with a final surface just above the existing ground level. The walls will be constructed from 140mm 7n concrete blocks. The outside will have a layer of 25mm kingspan beneath dark stained wooden weatherboard, so that it fits in with our neighbours garage and generally looks nice. The roof will be covered with redwood/cedar shingles. The existing garage roof (currently corrugated cement) will be replaced at the same time to match. There will be one set of glass double doors on the east side to be used as the entrance, and also another pair full height windows on the south facing side, which does not overlook any other habitable buildings. Mains electricity will be the only service connected to the building. Water run-off will be collected for use on the garden, as it already is from the existing garage.
