Planning Decision
Why it was refused
- The proposed detached chalet dwelling, by reason of its scale, siting, massing and the intensity of built development within this constrained plot, would result in a cramped and overbearing form of development and an overdevelopment of a small plot. The development is therefore contrary to Policies SD1, DE1 and HA1 of the Swindon Borough Local Plan 2026 and Policies L2 and DP3 of the National Planning Policy Framework (August 2026).
- The proposal would provide an inadequate level of private outdoor amenity space therefore leading to a poor level of amenity for future occupiers of the dwelling. The development is therefore contrary to Policy DE1 of the Swindon Borough Local Plan 2026 and Policy L2 of the National Planning Policy Framework (August 2026).
