Removal of 3 single stem young crack willow (possibly self-set). Trees are approx. 250mm in diameter. Removal of approx. 4 smaller saplings also crack willow less than 75mm diameter. Removal of Ivy growing over Flood Defence structure. Removal is necessary as they are located within 1 metre of the flood defence structure. The 3 larger trees are all leaning towards the flood defence and have the potential to cause serious structural damage to the asset due to falling unto the structure or by the root system causing damage to the structure. Work is being carried out before the trees become too large and damage occurs. All works are essential flood risk management routine maintenance to protect local properties from the effects of flooding and we have landowner permission. Environment Agency Ecologist has already checked this work, the tree and ivy for any possible damage to the environment and wildlife and there are no nesting birds or other concerns - the work area will be thoroughly checked again by the same Ecologist before works commence.
