In that past the tree has had an overall reduction to help maintain its size and shape, due to the damage a selective prune of the longer branches protruding from the canopy would be more appropriate alongside target pruning any limbs that show signs of being potentially weaker by up to approx 2.5m. The majority of these limbs are heavily laden lateral branches with some showing signs of squirell damage or protruding from the canopy.
