Reason: tree has grown too large for its environment, has grown too close to a large brick wall (please see attached photos) and also grown over neighbours garage. Informative A: many thanks for retaining other trees including the nearby mature oak, for urban greening amenity, wildlife habitat and for shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: retaining the Robinia with crown reduction is encouraged rather than felling to retain urban greening and environmental benefits. Informative C: if felled, replacement tree planting is encouraged, species such as field maple, Golden Rain Tree/Pride of India (Koelreuteria paniculata), Katsura (Cercidiphyllum japonicum), Japanese pagoda tree (Styphnolobium japonicum), Kentucky Coffee Tree (Gymnocladus dioica), grey alder, Italian alder, Bee-bee tree (Tetradium daniellii), Judas Tree (Cercis siliquastrum), Magnolia Kobus. Informative D: The Bat Conservation Trust advises checking thoroughly for roosting bats before and during tree works with soft fell process followed to proceed with care and with cut timber left grounded over night to allow any bats to make their way out, tree works ideally during Sept/Oct to avoid maternity and hibernation seasons when bats are most vulnerable to disturbance. Informative E: encourage retaining a high stump and creating habitat log piles with arisings on site for wildlife and biodiversity.
