REAR OPEN SPACE (rear 77 & 79 Pitfold Rd): ONE dead Birch (in G4 in TPO)(approx.ht.12-13m) FELL. Duty to replace applies. Reason: recent health and safety inspection identified the tree which was planted in the 1970s is dead and risk to nearby property. The London Borough of Lewisham (Land at the rear of Woodyates Road and Pitfold Road, London SE12) Tree Preservation Order 1996. Informative A: the landowner has a duty to plant a replacement TPO tree when there is an urgent necessity to remove the TPO tree because it is dead or presents an immediate risk of serious harm, para 79 and 80 Tree Preservation Orders and trees in conservation areas, government guidance 6 March 2014. Informative B: one replacement birch tree is required ? see details below. Informative C: please retain safe standing high stem or high stump of the dead birch, and create habitat wood piles and 'dead hedge' with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity. Informative D: the Trust's previous tree planting as part of the Queens Green Canopy is greatly appreciated together with replacement TPO tree planting (see previous DC/24/134603, DC/25/142391) and habitat enhancement including log piles to maintain the site's wooded character and biodiversity benefits for amenity, wellbeing, wildlife, environment, flood amelioration and climate change mitigation including shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures.
