Tree works as application form and acknowledgement letter dated 2 July 2025 for: FRONT: ONE Flowering Ash (T2)(ht.9m) FELL. Reason: to combat subsidence damage to no.108. REAR (no.106): ONE Ginkgo, not Honey locust (T4)(ht.14m) FELL Reason: to combat subsidence damage to 108 Wood Vale (see also DC/25/140425 to fell same rear Ginkgo ref structural issues at no.106). Tree works note - lime T1 and oak T3 are TPO trees (T20 & T21) in The London Borough of Lewisham (58-148 Wood Vale) Tree Preservation Order 1976), and any works to these trees requires a separate TPO application. Informative A: to encourage planting a smaller replacement tree species for the Ginkgo (T4) in the rear garden to maintain amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce high temperatures in increasingly hot summers due to the changing climate, suggested species: crab apple, elder, hazel, Katsura (Cercidiphyllum japonicum), alder buckthorn, quince (Cydonia oblonga) medlar, mulberry, pear, magnolia. Informative B: encourage retaining the front flowering Ash as there is no site investigation evidence that it is implicated with the structural issues and the front of no.108 has been underpinned, if the flowering ash is felled, please replace with a shade tolerant shrub or small tree such as: Cornus Kousa, holly, yew, Spindle (Euonymus europeaus), hazel, Amelanchier, privet, Magnolia Kobus, Camellias, Drimys winteri, Viburnum rhytidophyllum. Elaeagnus x ebbingei, Osmanthus x burkwoodii. Informative C: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity. Informative D: the programme of level monitoring is welcomed, and encouraged to continue to assess if the structural issues stabilise after the removal of the rear Ginkgo (T4).
