Planning Decision
Why it was refused
- The proposed digital internally illuminated, double sided, sequential advertisement within the existing bus shelter, by reason of its design, illumination, digital appearance and location, are visually intrusive and would have a detrimental impact on the character and appearance of the immediate public realm and would fail to preserve or enhance the character and appearance of the conservation area and would result in the loss of visual amenity for the area, contrary to the aims and objectives of policies Q2, Q5, Q6, Q17, and Q22 of the Lambeth Local Plan (2021). In addition, the proposed advert would cause a low level of less than substantial harm to the character and appearance of the grade II listed Town Hall, Grade II listed St Matthews Church, and the locally listed electric Brixton and churchyard. and as such, the scheme would also be contrary to the aims and objectives of policy Q20 of the Lambeth Local Plan (2021) and the Planning Practice Guidance (Advertisements) (2019).
