Planning Decision
Why it was refused
- The residential element of the development fails to achieve an acceptable standard of accommodation given undersized units that do not meet the minimum space requirements. As such the proposal would not accord with policy D6 of the London Plan (2021) and policies DM10 and DM13 of the Kingston Core Strategy (2012), as well as guidance contained within the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames Residential Design Guide SPD (2013).
- The proposal would result in the loss of a family sized dwelling and create 3 dwellings with no material difference in housing mix. The proposal would accordingly fail to comply with Policy DM14, the Residential Design SPD and Kingston's Local Housing Needs Assessment (September 2024).
From the council's decision notice.
