Consent to the following: T2 Oak situated as detailed in the application is to be thinned by 30% of its current crown density. Refusal of the following: The macrocarpa tree situated as detailed in the application is considered to be of good health and form and of high amenity important to the setting of the immediate and wider surrounding reflecting the landscape and history of the area. The proposal to reduce the tree in height is unnecessary and will leave the tree in a poor form causing poor growth patterns in the upper crown as the tree recovers from the reduction introducing structural weaknesses no present and the current time. For this reason the council can not justify consenting the to the tree reduction as requested. Allowance of lesser works: From inspection of the tree it is felt that the reduction of the width by reducing the over extended branches back into the major crown form and the raising the of the crown to 6 metres above ground level would be acceptable.
