Why it was refused

  1. The proposal satisfies the criteria for permitted development set out in Schedule 2, Part 1, Class A of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended). Notices were served on all adjoining owners or occupiers in accordance with paragraph A.4(5) and the statutory consultation period has elapsed. An objection was received from an adjoining party and, as required by paragraph A.4(7), the prior approval of the Local Planning Authority is therefore required as to the impact of the proposed development on the amenity of adjoining premises. Having regard to the representations received and having considered the amenity of all adjoining premises in accordance with paragraph A.4(9), the Local Planning Authority is not satisfied that the impact of the extension on the amenity of neighbouring properties would be acceptable. Prior approval is hereby refused.

From the council's decision notice.
