Planning Decision
Why it was refused
- The proposed advertisement, by reason of its increased scale, siting, and prominence, would conceal a greater extent of the historic fabric of the grade II* listed St Nicolas Church than the existing signage, resulting in harm to the significance of the designated heritage asset and detracting from its visual amenity. Further, the increased scale of the advertisement is not considered necessary to achieve its purpose. The proposal is therefore contrary to policy D10 of the Guildford Borough Local Plan: Development Management Policies (2023).
From the council's decision notice.
