Proposal

See Notice 2 Schedule of Works and Tree Works Plans. NOTE the application includes 'fell to 2m habitat stumps' of two mature sycamores. The trees (45 and 46 on plans and Sch. of Works) are currently assessed by the agent as posing no immediate risk. However in August, prior to the agent being instructed, a nearby ash (i.e. the next tree) of similar size failed into a back garden where children were playing (complete basal decay, possibly Rigidoporus ulmarius). There were no injuries but the neighbours are anxious about the sycamores 45 and 46. The applicant was not the owner when the ash failed but is keen to reassure neighbours that trees are being managed. Trees 45 & 46 were topped 3 years ago, whilst they were owned by the previous owner. A 3 year inspection cycle should manage the risk but not the neighbours anxiety. The area has good canopy cover and more light to the brook will improve biodiversity by encouraging acquatic and herbaceous plants. The 2m habitat stumps will add standing deadwood.
