- ARB Approved ContractorCheck the Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor register
ARB Approved Contractor is the Arboricultural Association's scheme for tree surgeons, not to be confused with the Architects Registration Board. Firms are assessed on site and in the office for safe working, quality of tree work and customer care. Work on trees with a preservation order or in a conservation area usually needs council consent first.
TrustMark is the government-endorsed quality scheme for work in and around the home. Firms are checked by an approved scheme provider for technical competence, customer service and trading practices, and agree to the TrustMark code of conduct. Some government-funded energy efficiency schemes only pay for work done by TrustMark registered businesses.
Memberships can lapse, so check before work starts.
