Trees: 4 ? Himalayan Birch (Betula utilis) Location: Rear of the property, situated at the foot of the rear garden. Proposed Works: Crown raise all four Himalayan Birch trees by removing the lowest secondary and tertiary branches to achieve a crown clearance of approximately 4 metres above ground level. The works will comprise the removal of low limbs only. The upper crown height, crown spread and overall form of each tree will be retained. Branches will be removed in accordance with the principles of BS 3998:2010 ? Tree Work ? Recommendations, ensuring appropriate pruning cuts are made without damaging the branch collar. Reason for the Works: The lower branches currently extend into the usable garden space, restricting access and routine maintenance beneath the trees. Raising the crowns will: * Improve pedestrian access beneath the trees. * Increase usable garden space. * Facilitate routine maintenance of the garden. * Improve visibility through the garden while retaining the trees? amenity value. * Maintain the long-term health and natural form of the trees by removing only the lowest branches. The proposed works are limited in extent and will not materially alter the appearance, size or contribution of the trees to the Conservation Area.
