Side Communal Garden Area of Regents Court; x1 Hornbeam - Reduce in height only Reduce the height of the tree by approximately 1.0 metre leaving a final tree height of approximately 4.0 metres. No works to the radial canopy spread is required maintaining a final radial crown spread of approximately 4.0 metres at all compass points while retaining the main framework & shape of the crown & therefore a high proportion of the foliage bearing structure. All pruning cuts to be made at suitable growth points. Pruning wounds shall not exceed 30mm in diameter. Crown lift secondary & sub lateral branch growth on the southern aspect of the tree only, to provide a clearance of approximately 2.0 metres between ground level and foliage tips, to achieve the desired vertical clearance above the access steps leading to the garden area. Justification The reduction in tree height by 1.0 metre ensures the Hornbeam remains manageable and structurally stable. The work is designed to maintain the tree?s natural framework and foliage-bearing structure, which supports its overall vitality and aesthetic value. Limiting pruning cuts to growth points and ensuring wounds do not exceed 30mm in diameter will minimize stress on the tree and reduce the risk of disease or decay. The reduction in height and maintenance of a 4.0-metre radial canopy spread preserves the tree?s natural shape and symmetry. This ensures the Hornbeam remains an attractive and integral feature of the communal garden area. Crown lifting on the southern aspect provides a 2.0-metre clearance above the access steps, improving safe access for residents and visitors without impacting the overall canopy structure. Ensuring adequate vertical clearance addresses public safety concerns, particularly in a communal space. The selective and minimal nature of the proposed works aligns with the objectives of conservation area. The tree?s contribution to the local character and landscape will be maintained. The proposed works mainta...
