Condition of Trees & Proposed Schedule of Tree Works ? 9 Betley Hall Gardens) All tree works are to be undertaken by a suitably qualified arboricultural consultant in line with good practice and relevant guidance. All works to be undertaken outside of the bird breeding season. All works are proposed manage the tree stock to improve the health and amenity value of the trees within the TPO / Conservation Area. Only works to Trees 1 ? 3 are proposed. Tree 1 (Sycamore) - Despite shaping works in 2020 (Ref 20/00787/TWA) the tree remains of a poor form and condition. Due to adjacent trees (in the adjacent property that were felled in 2019) the main stem girth is undersized for a tree of its height, and leans towards 7 and 9 Betley Hall Gardens, as well as the property ?Yew Trees? Main Road all of which are located at a distance of no more than 13m of the tree ? which itself rises to some 20m. Concern has been raised by the occupants of neighbouring properties about the tree, particularly as it is at high risk having formerly been part of a group (which was removed after failure), in addition to its poor form and leaning main stem. Permission is sought to remove the tree, to prevent damage to person or properties in the likely event that the tree should fail. Removal of the tree would reduce the impact on trees 2 and 3 (holly and yew) improving their form and condition, as well as yew trees in the adjoining property ? all of which are higher value trees. If Tree 1 was to fail it could likely result in substantial damage to these other trees, which have a greater life expectancy and value. A replacement tree that is more of an appropriate size for a location in close proximity to dwellings would be planted ? therefore an indigenous fruit tree is proposed, in keeping with the historical walled gardens that Betley Hall Gardens are named after. Tree 2 (Holly) ? Aim of works to enable access to maintain garden: Crown raise to 2m above ground level M
