Planning Application Details - 26/00084/AGDET

The proposed pond is roughly 10m square, slightly narrower at the north end to fit into the space available and to allow hedge and ditch maintenance. It will be 10m from the property boundary. The pond is designed to widen a ditch that runs diagonally across the eastern end of an 18ha field. The pond will provide additional storage in the event of peak flood flows and help to prevent ditch over-topping. The pond will improve the drainage of the field which is vulnerable to ponding in several places. Currently the ponding can spoil winter crops. The eastern end of the field is not in agricultural production at present. It is being used for an agri-environmental scheme. The pond will help to put the surrounding land into agricultural production. The pond is designed to be 600mm deeper than the existing ditch which is about 1400mm deep so that it will hold water for most of the year and provides an aquatic environmental refuge. The pond bed will be impermeable clay. The widened ditch will slow flows. This will result in some top-soil sediment deposition. The accumulated silt can be recycled on the farm rather than being lost downstream. The property boundary is marked by a ditch and a wide hedge. Beyond that, the B660 has a verge approx. 5m wide. The pond will also help to prevent flooding onto the B660. The impact on ditch overtopping downstream on neighbours??? properties will also increase agricultural outputs. The site will be assessed prior to commencement by Jarrod McKimmie (contactor) and Charles Dalleywater (Applicant's agent) to meet with the requirements outlined in the specification and risk assessment. Jarrod McKimmie will excavate the measured and plotted area of the pond, The spoil to be placed around site in suitable locations using a 14 tonne and 8 tonne 360 excavator. One 9 Tonne Dumpers are to be used to move spoil. There should be negligible flow in the ditch at the time of excavation. The pond excavation will not affect the ditch or water fl...
