Planning Application Details - HPK/2026/0274

The existing car park at the rear of the Whaley Bridge Uniting Church (approx 300sqm) has a hardcore surface, with no underground drainage, and is bounded by an existing asphalt footpath, with a half battered precast concrete curb, on the side nearest the building. On the remaining three sides there is a grass bank. The proposed development consists of installing a new half battered, pc concrete curb, on a concrete bed and haunch, at the base of the grass banks. Due to the sloping nature of the car park entrance there could be limited surface water run-off during an extreme weather event. To mitigate such an event a new concrete dished channel will be installed adjacent to the existing drop kerb across the car park entrance. The rainwater from the dished channel will discharge into a trapped gully and then into a 1 cubic meter stone soakaway located in the adjacent garden area, The surface of the existing hardcore will be regulated using MOT type 2 material, prior to laying a 100mm depth of permeable asphalt (Viaflow) in two layers of 50mm depth. White lining will be added to the surface of the asphalt to mark out car parking bays (approx 13 including one disabled bay) To increase the biodiversity of the Project eco/insect friendly plants will be added to the grass banks around the car park
