Planning Application Details - TPO/000150/26

Application for Tree Works: for works to a mature common lime (Tilia à europaea) located within the curtilage of my property (TPO reference: 39-2001). In accordance with Flintshire County Council guidance and BS3998:2010 Recommendations for Tree Work, I respectfully seek approval for the following works, described using clear dimensions and specific pruning objectives: Crown reduction - Reduce the overall height of the tree by up to 3.03.5 metres from the current extremities, with a corresponding lateral reduction of up to 2.03.0 metres on all sides as appropriate. All pruning cuts to be made back to suitable growth points in order to maintain a balanced crown, structural integrity, and the long-term health of the tree. Crown lift - Remove lower branches to raise the crown and achieve a minimum 5 metre clear vertical branch height above the perimeter fence and outbuilding level, in order to reduce nuisance impacts and improve clearance beneath the canopy. Crown thinning - Removal of secondary branches to reduce canopy density without altering the overall shape or size, within new boundaries. Increase in light penetration for both the tree and owner, improved airflow, and reduction in wind resistance. Total reduction not to exceed 20% thinning. Epicormic growth and witches nest removal Remove all epicormic growth arising from the trunk and major scaffold limbs up to approximately 10 metres above ground level. This includes the careful dismantling and removal of a substantial epicormic growth mass (witches nest) located approximately halfway up the tree, which currently comprises tangled epicormic shoots and dead or declining material presenting an ongoing maintenance and safety concern. Special consideration shall be taken when embarking on removal in respect of any wildlife present within the growth. Deadwood and safety pruning - Remove all dead, diseased, or structurally unsound branches throughout the crown (included here for clarity, notwithstanding any statutory exemptions that may apply).
