Planning Application Details - 2026/1312

Tree Preservation Order EL:89/44 - Tree 1 Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) Proposed works: Fell to ground level and grind stump. Replacement tree to be planted elsewhere within the garden. Reason for works: The tree is situated in extremely close proximity to the dwelling within a confined raised planter area and has significantly outgrown its location. There is visible displacement and movement to adjacent retaining structures, paving and hard landscaping, together with cracking evident to the dwelling itself in close proximity to the tree. Concerns also exist regarding the relationship between the tree, nearby drainage infrastructure and foundations within an area. The trees mature size, extensive root buttressing and confined rooting environment make it unsuitable for long term retention in this location. Due to the scale and species of the tree, ongoing cyclical pruning would not provide a sustainable long term management solution or adequately address concerns regarding future structural movement. Replacement planting is proposed elsewhere within the site using a more suitable species to retain amenity value within the garden. Tree 2 Lawson Cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana) Proposed works: Fell to ground level and grind stump. Reason for works: The tree is located within a confined planting bed along the boundary and is growing asymmetrically due to limited space and surrounding constraints. The tree is showing signs of decline and thinning foliage, with reduced vitality apparent throughout parts of the canopy. Due to the trees poor form, confined rooting environment and declining condition, removal is proposed. Trees 3 & 4 Oak Trees Proposed works: Reduce canopy by approximately 1.5 metres back to previous pruning points, reducing end weight and reshaping the crowns into one cohesive canopy. Reason for works: The trees are growing in close proximity to one another and have previously been managed together as a single canopy form. Works are proposed
