Planning Application Details - 2026/1243
Tree Preservation Order EL:93/13 - A large corkscrew willow. Over time the trunk has become diseased (pictures available) and large chunks have fallen away. The wood left is quite spongy. Will of WG Harpur tree surgeons has visited and proposed that for best recovery and safety (with the weakened trunk) that a major pollard down to a few metres is necessary. That would then be repeated every 3 - 5 years depending on the re-growth and condition of the tree. Apart from the costs involved in the pollarding, we love the tree we would prefer to do nothing to it if some expert could say that it is safe to leave it and it will repair itself. I.E. avoid doing any work on a TPO tree which is normally what Elmbridge prefer. I was hoping that an Elmbridge Tree Officer might offer that independent view but after exchanges / pictures with Carl Springett that does not seem to be an option.
