Notice of intent to carry out works to trees in a Conservation Area - Three cupressus trees on the southern boundary in a hedge line mostly comprising hazel trees, also one yew, leading to an adjacent hornbeam which is recently planted, and a mature walnut tree. The cupressus have previously been pollarded at approx 3m height, but have grown 5m or so extra over the intervening years and are now ragged specimens. The plan is to remove the trees, creating a space to allow planting of a group of three Himalayan birch trees, Betula Jacquemontii. These birches will provide similar privacy once established, will provide more diversity, and will be much better visually, and will give some shape away from the straight hedge line. A separate application will be made for reduction in height of the hedge line hazel trees which are overgrown due to neglect of years, including infestation with ivy which has pushed the growth higher. The ivy has been largely removed in preparation.
